Crescendo Is Just Around The Corner |

Please join us this Sunday, October 10 — yes, 10.10.10 — for the Annual Gala Fundraiser of San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus. The fun kicks off at 12:30 pm with an unparalleled brunch provided by the kitchen of Patrick David’s Catering and Events. While you enjoy the delectable offerings, wet your whistle at our complimentary bar – go ahead and give our Ketel One Vodka-based "Crescendo Cocktail" a try – and bid on one or more of the nearly 40 silent auction items. While enjoying dessert, relax to the sounds of SFGMC’s own ensemble, Vocal Minority . Things heat up when we kick off the live auction featuring three "Walls of Wine" and an African Safari. Of course, the afternoon would not be complete without the rapier wit and dazzling humor of Emmy Award winner (and all around mensch) Bruce Vilanch.
Tickets start at $100, which not only gets you brunch, beverages and Bruce, but you also get an $88 gift certificate for stylish menswear at Bonobos.com. If you cannot make it on Sunday, then please consider making a donation of any amount to help us continue providing harmony and hope to our community.

Fun with a purpose is what this afternoon is all about. During the live "Fund-The-Future" auction, your pledges will help us launch "Experience Music", a new program that will take SFGMC into the classroom where so many of our youth are suffering from the combined effects of homophobia and slashed funding for the arts. The importance of this initiative has been made even more poignant by the recent wave of suicides of bullied LGBT youth. To help us launch the program, Eric Guthertz, principal of Mission High School, will share stories of transformed lives from our pilot program there in April. We hope you will help us on this journey by joining us at Crescendo.

There’s Only One Bruce Vilanch . . . and We Got Him! |

What can we say? We got Bruce and are we thrilled. The Emmy award-winning writer, actor, and producer will crack wise with tales of Hollywood life and making it in the entertainment industry. Want a sneak peek? Click on the video and be prepared to laugh out loud.
During his career, Vilanch has been a sassy “Hollywood Square,” donned a dress, a wig and padding in his role as “Edna Turnblad” in Broadway’s “Hairspray,” and penned some of the funniest lines of the evening for the Academy Awards. Vilanch is also an activist for LGBT rights and education for all. We could not be more proud to have him as our featured entertainer.
